CNN host Victor Blackwell pressed DNC Chair Jamie Harrison on Wednesday about the president’s “Bidenomics” push, despite polling showing Americans overwhelmingly disapprove of Biden’s handling of the economy Is.
Blackwell asked Harrison about a CNN poll that found 63% of Americans disapprove of the president’s handling of the economy.
“His campaign so far has focused on the economy, but it doesn’t seem to be working. Why?” Blackwell asked.
Harrison said he needed to be there to make sure “people connect.”

Harrison said, “Good things are going with the president. They’re happening because of his policies, consumer confidence is up, job satisfaction is up. Unemployment is at a record low right now.”
“You talk about things that are going up, gas prices going up, 25 cents last month. A one percent reduction in price from about a year ago. Mortgage rates going up, 20 years Highest, highest level in more than 20 years,” the CNN host replied.
However Blackwell also said that the administration had already “explained” that it was “outside the president’s control.”
“We understand it, but people feel the same way. Is it an insecurity to use his name, to associate a president’s re-election campaign with economics, when so many people feel so bad about the economy? Is it A vulnerability for the president?” the anchor asked.

Harrison insisted that this was not a vulnerability and argued that America was still at the front of the line.
“Because of the Inflation Reduction Act, we’ve had a crackdown on inflation. We’ve seen a steep decline in inflation in this country. And so every economic measure out there shows that we’re not going into a recession. We’re roaring Coming back to the future on this economic message, he said.
Blackwell earlier this month confronted White House Press Secretary Karin Jean-Pierre over the president’s weak polling data.
He told Jean-Pierre that Americans are not happy with Biden’s performance on the economy.
He responded by arguing that surveys “don’t show everything.”
