The billionaire told Israel’s prime minister that the move could help combat bots that mimic human behavior.

Owner Elon Musk blamed the number of bots on the platform for the proposal, suggesting he could introduce a “small monthly payment” for all users.
The tech tycoon has made several changes since taking over the network for $44 billion (€41 billion) in October last year.
He has fired thousands of employees, introduced a pay option for verification, removed content moderation and reinstated previously banned accounts, including that of former US President Donald Trump.
In July, he reported that the platform had lost nearly half of its advertising revenue.
Bots – accounts run by computer programs rather than humans – are common on Facebook, where they can be used to artificially amplify political messages or fan the flames of racial hatred.

Elon Musk responded that he cannot stop all hate messages from being published on X. He said the company is “moving toward a smaller monthly payment for the use of System X”.
“It’s the only way I can think of to fight huge armies of robots,” he said. “Because the cost of a robot is a fraction of a cent – call it a penny – but if someone has to pay a few dollars, even a nominal amount, the effective cost of the robot is much higher.
“And then whenever you have a new bot you also have to have a new payment method.”

The conversation, which was broadcast on X, comes as the Tesla Motors automotive group boss is embroiled in a dispute with the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), a Jewish organization based in the United States.
Musk has accused the ADL of making baseless allegations of anti-Semitism that have scared away advertisers and hurt his company’s revenue, and he has threatened to sue it for billions of dollars.
