Elon Musk has dabbled in white supremacy, amplifying assertions that South Africa is a “racist apartheid state” and backing insinuations that white individuals are facing hostility from minorities and immigrants.

However, the recent social media messages — alleging that Jews are spreading hatred against white people, the unsettling assertion behind the deadly 2018 violence at Pittsburgh’s Tree of Life synagogue that claimed 11 lives — have incited a global outcry. This led to a public rebuke from the White House.

Musk made the statement amidst a surge in anti-Semitic incidents in the US and amid escalating hate and online harassment faced by Jewish and Muslim Americans during the Israel-Hamas conflict.

“Repeating the unfounded lies behind the deadliest act of anti-Semitism in American history at any time is intolerable,” stated White House spokesman Andrew Bates, a month after the most catastrophic day for the Jewish community since the Holocaust. “Leave the issue aside.”

Companies such as Apple, IBM, Disney, and Lions Gate Entertainment have removed advertisements from Musk’s social media platform X, previously known as Twitter.

X did not reply to a request for comment.

Jewish groups have condemned Musk for the alleged surge in anti-Semitic messages on X since he acquired the platform a year ago.

CEO of X, Linda Yaccarino, mentioned on Thursday that the company has been “extremely explicit about our efforts to combat prejudice against Jewish people.”

,There’s no place for it anywhere in the world – It’s unsightly and incorrect,” she stated. “full stop.”

Billionaire Elon Musk is under scrutiny for anti-Semitic remarks on X, previously known as Twitter.

In September, Musk expressed his opposition to anti-Semitism during a conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Musk, the wealthiest individual globally, heads a vast corporate empire encompassing X, Tesla, and four other firms, yielding considerable influence in global geopolitical affairs.

Some investors in Tesla cautioned that Musk’s statements could tarnish the Tesla brand.

Jerry Brackman, chairman and chief investment officer of First American Trust, which owned 16,000 Tesla shares as of September 30, urged the Tesla board to place Musk on a 30 to 60 day leave.

“There are times when you overstep the boundaries, and I believe comments like this are definitely crossing those boundaries. It’s not acceptable in the business sphere, and there’s no justification for a CEO to endorse anti-Semitism, prejudice, hate speech, or any similar behaviors,” stated Brackman to USA TODAY. “After all, he is a very affluent, influential, successful individual who has established some outstanding companies, but that doesn’t absolve him of his social responsibilities?”

Kevin Paffrath, the financial consultant, Tesla investor, and YouTuber behind “Meet Kevin,” suggested to Yahoo Finance that Musk “requires constant oversight and he must be willing to accept such oversight.”

Musk was responding to an X user on Wednesday who was promoting a conspiracy theory alleging that Jewish individuals are orchestrating the influx of non-white immigrants to the US to replace the white population.

Musk replied, “You are completely correct.”

Accounts promoting anti-Semitic viewpoints pounced on Musk’s tweet, claiming it signifies his agreement with them on the “JQ,” an acronym utilized by anti-Semites to refer to the Jewish Question. The deed is to be done.

In a subsequent post, Musk criticized the Anti-Defamation League for “unjustly targeting the majority of the Western world, despite the overwhelming support in the Western world for Jewish people and Israel.”

Musk is embroiled in a dispute with the ADL over its initiative to eradicate anti-Semitism from social media – an initiative Musk alleges has impacted his company’s advertising revenue.

“At a time when anti-Semitism is escalating in America and globally, undeniably dangerous Utilizing his influence to endorse and propagate anti-Semitic theories,” asserted ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt on X.
