star field
Post updated on 9.1.23. See update below.
That day is almost here. starfield, Bethesda’s Massive Space Adventure RPG, Xbox Series
If you’re eager to blast off into the massive universe that Bethesda has created, you have a few different options. you can:
If you choose that last option, you will get a chance to play star field About a week before launch. You’ll get access to the game starting on August 31st at 5PM PT/8PM ET, though depending on your time zone this may be translated to September 1st.
One important thing to note for Game Pass subscribers: If you have a Game Pass subscription, you can purchase the premium upgrade for $35 and gain entry into the Early Access period. Sure, you’re paying $35 to get a few extra days with a game that could take weeks (or, um, even years) to finish.
The premium version comes with some exclusive in-game items as well as the Shattered Space story expansion, along with a few other goodies.
Although Microsoft has (wisely) discontinued its $1 Game Pass trial, you can still save money by signing up for the service and purchasing the premium upgrade. One month of Standard Game Pass is $10.99 and Ultimate is $16.99. Add $35 to any of these numbers and you’ll still save money compared to the $69.99 Standard Edition or the $99.99 Premium Edition. Plus you get early access!
So, that’s my good deed for today. you are welcome.
enjoy starfield, folks!
Update: The reviews are in!
star field The reviews are spot on and make a very solid case that sticking around in the Early Access period is probably worth your time, especially if you follow the tips above for getting the best deal on the premium version.
Our own Paul Tassie gave the game a 9.5/10 writing:
i really love this game. Yes, Bethesda doesn’t match some of its peers in many places, but that’s partly because it’s trying to EverythingSuddenly. But if you want a massive Bethesda RPG set in space with better combat and lots of time to level up and build things and explore and discover secrets, then yeah, this is it. they did it. enjoy.
Check out Paul’s 10 things I wish I knew before playing star field guide here.
The game currently holds a very respectable 87/100 on Metacritic for the Xbox Series X and 88/100 on PC.
These averages are pulled down by some astonishing 7/10 scores from IGN and GameSpot – of all places. It appears Paste Magazine’s truly ridiculous 5/10 has been kicked off Metacritic’s list of the best. There’s no way this game deserves a failing grade, even if it isn’t perfect.
Told everyone star field is a huge hit among critics and it looks like gamers are having a lot of fun too, although there are no user reviews on Metacritic or Steam yet. It appears that Bethesda has really gone into outer space with this – it’s not even that small! Will miracles never end?
