Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said the Center has set a target of achieving 70 percent self-reliance in arms by 2027.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday said India’s arms imports have declined significantly in the last 4-5 years and defense exports have reached an all-time high in the last financial year, reflecting our commitment towards innovation and indigenous technology development. Sinha made this comment while participating in the North-Tech Symposium-2023 organized at the Jagti campus of IIT. He attended the event along with Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan.
CDS also interacted informally with the media. The Lieutenant Governor congratulated the Northern Command, Society of Indian Defense Manufacturers (SIDM) and IIT Jammu for jointly hosting hundreds of industries and defense technology startups.
“It is a proud moment for the education world as for the first time since its inception, the Post-Technical Seminar, Defense Exhibition is being organized at IIT Jammu,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
