Ohio House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan has made the decision to avoid humiliating himself again by casting another vote for the chairmanship today. Instead, Jimmy will temporarily back interim Speaker Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.) until January.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! The news was reported by CNN’s John Berman and Lauren Fox.
“Yes, we are hopeful that in the private conference meeting, as per multiple sources that I and CNN colleagues have been talking to, Jim Jordan will make a resolution to authorize Patrick McHenry to run again today rather than in January.” Going to point. There on the floor to the House speaker,” Fox stated.
“Is there any reasoning behind this?” Barman asked. “He’s not expected to relinquish his position, but will this give him more time to garner support, and will it be effective over the next several months?”
“It’s uncertain because there are numerous supporters who state they won’t endorse him, and it’s not obvious that more time will change their minds, but on the legislative front, authorizing McHenry for several months is essentially what would enable them to handle the most challenging and demanding legislation for any future speaker to pass through the House Republican conference, including ensuring the government is funded after the Nov. 17 deadline and collaborating with the Democrats on the full spending bill in November, as well as Ukrainian aid and Israeli aid, and as the White House plans to submit a supplementary request, and that’s why Jordan McHenry is going to support this resolution to authorize “But it is important news that Jim Jordan is not expected to run on this motion. Voting for Speaker is being held on the third ballot today after 20 more members were defeated in the second ballot,” he said. Said what can be called the longest sentence ever.
“I think it’s safe to say that he’s backing down and pushing for another vote today because he was headed for defeat and a big defeat,” Berman said. ,He was the third ballot loser, and now at least he has a break, an off-ramp, and Patrick McHenry has the right to serve as some kind of speaker pro tem until January, Lauren. There’s a lot of work out there, and what does that mean that the house will be able to do in the next two months and what not?”
“Well, right now, because McHenry is in an interim role, the perception is that he didn’t have the power to bring legislation to the House floor and not even a motion to say that the House supported Israel, and in a big And because of the expanded role, he can bring legislation to the House, and act like any other speaker, and this is again essentially because the government funding deadline is coming up on November 17,” Fox said.
“Yes, and the Democrat from Illinois told me, yes, he would support authorizing McHenry for the time being, and that’s what the Democrats have said, and the fine print, and they can get it in the next few hours, and A lot of new things are happening here, Berman said, and as you’ve reported, Jim Jordan is suggesting he might want to run for president and make another try in January. “Of course, January is too early. Far away, and we’ll have to wait and see, but he’s not one to constantly quit, right?”
Fox said, “Yeah, it’s interesting, and before all this came out, I talked to Warren Davidson this morning, who is a close associate of Jim Jordan, and he said the conference needed time to heal.” Think about what happened within the last 16 days. One speaker dropped out and another candidate came to the forefront and won in a closed-door meeting, Steve Scalise. And he could not get the votes and was voted out because of Jordan’s opponents. Then Jim Jordan was running, and in the words of Warren David there was a lot of bad blood and a lot of raw nerves, it’s the thinking of Jordan’s colleagues to give it some time, and Jordan is not freaking out, but see if He could get there in the next several months.”
TLDR: Jordan’s going to wait until January to humiliate himself again, in the meantime, he’s supporting McHenry in wielding the gavel until he can possibly get his little webbed hands on him. And it’s all confusing because Republicans can’t govern. They are completely inactive.

The bar is very low these days but Patrick McHenry is much better than Jim Jordan.
1. He’s not a MAGA fanatic
2. He voted to certify the 2020 election
3. He supports aid for Ukraine pic.twitter.com/RF9tuBgy16– Republicans Against Trump (@RpsAgainstTrump) 19 October 2023
Trump is losing his power to support politicians. Gotta suck it.
