How did the case unfold
According to the MNPD, the woman was walking on Estewood Drive near Trimble Road at around 11:30 pm on January 30. She told police that two men got out of a dark sedan and attacked her as she screamed and fought back. That’s when he was shot and the men fled. The MNPD said he was admitted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The reward money was later raised to $50,000 from private donors for information on the assault and shooting.
The woman’s family released a statement on February 2, saying she was a student at Louisiana State University and would soon finish medical school there with plans to specialize in pediatric infectious disease. He described the attack as senseless and sticky. The family thanks loved ones and the Nashville community for their support and generosity. She also praised the first responders and medical teams, who she believes saved her daughter’s life.
Part of the statement read, “Our daughter is an intelligent, caring and thoughtful young woman.” “While it will take time for our daughter’s injuries to heal, this vicious attack will not deter her.”
The MNPD said investigators continued to work on the case. They also used surveillance footage that helped identify Tyler.
