Canadian e-commerce company Shopify recently launched new tools for users selling non-fungible tokens of NFTs. The company added “tokengating” tools that were specifically designed for digital tokens.
With the tokenizing tool, Shopify NFT sellers will be able to better manage who can see their products. This is because the devices can command which token holders can access exclusive items, NFT drops, and other special perks.
The e-commerce company built these blockchain commerce tools to further improve the user experience for merchants in its Web3-centric stores on Shopify’s platform. The blockchain design team said the tool will help merchants build tokenizing apps.
According to Cointelegraph, another added feature to the platform is expanded links to crypto wallet features. The tokenizing application programming interface (API) was tested last year and operated on beta, with select merchants able to try it out first, and will now be officially offered to all NFT merchants on Shopify.
For extended crypto wallet support, the company integrated the Ethereum Name Service (ENS) and a sign-in link for the Protocol for Ethereum (SIWE) maintained by the Ethereum Foundation. SIWE ensures that sign-ins are secure and allows authentication of Ethereum accounts without revealing users’ private data to third parties.
Previously, the company received a lot of complaints regarding data breaches of private users, and Shopify is solving this issue with the use of the SIWE protocol. Once NFT merchants link the SIWE feature on Shopify Wallet Connect, users will be able to sign in with Ethereum through SIWE’s partner intermediaries including Coinbase, Portis, WalletConnect, Torus and Fortamatic.
Lastly, Cryptopolitan pointed out that the main attraction of the new blockchain tool is its wallet connection and tokenization app. The added features will help users easily navigate through their Web3 store on Shopify.
