According to multiple reports, Apple’s upcoming iPhone 15 Pro Max could be the most expensive yet.
Many analysts have suggested that Apple could raise the price of more expensive phones by $200, partly as a response to inflation but also because of a new strategy.
Rumors have suggested that Apple is looking to introduce new options at the very expensive end of its line-up, in an effort to stimulate the growth of its profits. Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook confirmed that strategy during an earnings call earlier this year in which he said he believed “people are really willing to put in the effort to get the best out of that category.” Are”.
Apple appears to have already attempted that strategy with the Apple Watch Ultra, a new and more expensive version of the wearable that was released last year. This was a notable change from previous releases, in which Apple had introduced cheaper “SE” versions of the Watch and iPhone, as well as much smaller handsets.
Various reports have revealed that Apple is planning to do the same with its iPhone line-up. Reports suggest it could eventually bring an “Ultra” version of the iPhone, possibly with premium features and other changes aimed at encouraging customers to buy it.
However, this time, Apple will offer the same line-up as it did with the iPhone 14: a smaller and larger version of both the regular iPhone 15 and the premium iPhone 15 Pro. The latter’s larger version – the iPhone 15 Pro Max – will be the most expensive.
This year, the iPhone 15 Pro Max may have even more features that set it apart from the rest of the line-up. Rumors indicate that Apple is adding a “periscope lens” to the larger phone, which will allow it to provide more zoom without taking up more space.
Several analysts and reports have suggested that those changes could add additional costs to the price of the iPhone. Analysts have indicated that the iPhone 14 Pro Max currently costs $1,099 and the new model could cost $200 more than that.
The changes are also going to increase the average selling price of the iPhone, according to a new report from Dan Ives, analyst at Wedbush, and reporting by 9to5mac. He suggested this would bring the average selling price to $900-$925.
Apple will reveal the new iPhones and their pricing at an event on Tuesday, September 12. It is expected that their sales will start next week.
The base iPhone 15 is expected to be brought largely in line with the current iPhone 14 Pro, borrowing the “Dynamic Island” feature on top of its chip and display. The iPhone 15 Pro is expected to get a new, more powerful chip, thinner bezels around the display, and an “action button” on the side of the phone.
It is also expected that Apple will shift the port on the bottom of all new phones from the existing Lightning to USB-C.
