Seth Rollins makes his WWE Raw debut
Seth Rollins did a great job selling his back while struggling to get into the ring. The man was wearing a heavy fur coat, which could not have been easy to move around in even with a good back.
Seth Rollins made sure to thank Adrenaline during his acceptance speech.
I love when Seth Rollins tries to have a serious moment despite how ridiculously dressed he is. This week, wearing a 2000s checkered fur coat, a fishnet shirt and shiny leather pants, he removed his oversized sunglasses and said, “I want to level with you guys…”
Drew McIntyre, who has been slowly (and hypothetically) turning heel, took on Seth Rollins. I think Drew would be a great option to dethrone Seth as Heel World Champion.
Once again Seth Rollins was attacked at Judgment Day and once again Drew McIntyre could not bother to save Seth.
Opening Segment Grade: B
Ivar Deaf. Kofi Kingston
The absence of a ringside boat was prominent in this Viking Rules match.
There’s nothing like Ivar in all of wrestling. Give me a dozen gritty diminutive prototypes from any of the likes of Ilja Dragunov or Tyler Bate. Ivar is a world champion waiting to become.
Xavier Woods and Valhalla made cameos in this match and Valhalla was booked like Eric. She charged towards Woods and he could barely move out of the way.
Ivar vs. Kofi Kingston Grade: A-
No contest between Nia Jax and Raquel Rodriguez
This was a huge women’s match, which included Raquel Rodriguez hitting a power bomb on Jax.
After the match, we got a glimpse of how this division is dominated by women. Rodriguez, Baszler, Ripley, Jax. What’s even more shocking is that the division has been dormant since Rhea Ripley won the title.
Shayna Baszler eliminated Rhea Ripley, leading to a match between the two next week.
Nia Jax vs. Raquel Rodriguez Grade: B-
Sami and Kevin face Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso
Michael Cole asked Cody Rhodes about ending the storyline, prompting a Cody chant. Cole then asked a stupid question if Cody Rhodes was satisfied with winning the tag titles.
Michael Cole is getting closer to Jason Lee with every interview. Cole said that Rhodes “failed” in his attempt to become WWE Champion and could end up “like his father”. Very dirty.
Before Rhodes could answer Messi Cole’s questions, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens came out – on the old, terrible subject of Sami. Vince McMahon cannot be blamed for this.
Rhodes & Jey Uso-Kevin & Sami Segment Grade: B+
Bronson Reed def. Ricochet and Chad Gable
Ricochet first feuded with Shinsuke Nakamura, leading to Nakamura attacking Ricochet during Ricochet’s entrance. Nakamura made sure to throw a jab at the GTS for good measure.
Before the match, Chad Gable asked Otis to bite repeatedly to prepare for his final match with Gunther. Gable said “Thank you!” After every bite.
Between Ricochet’s athleticism, Bronson Reed’s size, and Chad Gable’s deceptive power, these three got along like pro wrestling soulmates.
Chad Gable executed a German suplex on Bronson Reed, and when he finally hit it, it was a sight to behold.
Bronson Reed spoiled Chad Gable’s victory with an impressive Tsunami, setting up a heel vs. heel match between Gunther and Bronson Reed.
Bronson Reed vs. Ricochet and Chad Gable Grade: A-
Drew McIntyre def. JD McDonagh
JD McDonagh’s theme music is almost as generic as Sami Zayn’s.
McIntyre still continued to overplay his hand as a babyface, as McDonagh used interference from Judgment Day to work on McIntyre’s leg.
Drew McIntyre ultimately won this match and I wouldn’t mind if McIntyre remained a tweener babyface. He has been amazing.
During a backstage segment, DIY discussed their reunion before being interrupted by Imperium.
Drew McIntyre vs. JD McDonagh Grade: B-
Becky Lynch def. tegan knox
Natalya continues to present herself as Tegan Nox’s ally and Tegan is falling into the trap.
WWE used this segment and previous Becky Lynch segments to promote Becky Lynch’s upcoming book. Man: Not your average average girl.
Tegan Knox and Becky Lynch got a lot of time. More women’s wrestling is another sign that Triple H is on top.
Becky Lynch vs. Tegan Knox Grade: B
Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso vs. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn
Backstage, Jey Uso struggled with his lines during a one-on-one battle with Drew McIntyre. Like, he was close to Psycho Sid territory.
WWE aired an amazing video package for Ludwig Kaiser, who hasn’t even left Imperium yet. Kevin Owens was watching in disgust.
Cody Rhodes hit Cody Cutter for a near-fall, and Wade Barrett said he didn’t remember many people getting kicked by that move. I can’t ever remember Cody winning with that move.
Cody and Jey won after “Cody 1D” on Kevin Owens. Parts of this match felt like it was competing with the main event of WrestleMania Night 1. All four of them worked hard in a worthwhile tag team championship match.
When Kevin Owens was given a chance to shake hands, he refused. Sami Zayn did not. KO then reluctantly shook hands with Cody and Jey.
